HUGO Pro PEMF — High Intensity Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy
Your cells run on electricity. PEMF recharges them.
Every living cell in your body maintains an electromagnetic charge. That charge powers your mitochondria, the energy plants of your cells, which produce ATP, the fuel behind every biological function: muscle contraction, tissue repair, immune response, circulation, cognition.
When cells are depleted, through injury, chronic stress, inflammation, illness or simply the demands of an active life, mitochondrial energy production drops. Recovery slows. The body struggles to keep up.
PEMF works by delivering pulsating electromagnetic fields through the body, inducing microcurrents that recharge cellular membranes and stimulate mitochondrial ATP production. Studies have shown PEMF can increase ATP production by up to 600%. Think of it as putting your body on an induction charger, the same principle as wireless phone charging, applied at a cellular level.
PEMF has over 60 years of research behind it and was the first energy medicine modality to receive FDA approval, initially for non-union bone fractures that failed to heal through conventional treatment.
Since then the research has expanded significantly:
Circulation: PEMF stimulates nitric oxide production, the molecule that relaxes and widens blood vessels, reducing resistance and dramatically improving blood flow. In 1992 nitric oxide was named Time magazine's molecule of the year; three researchers won the Nobel Prize for its discovery
Blood viscosity: Dark field microscopy studies show that after a single PEMF session, red blood cells that were clustered and sticky, a common finding in inflammatory and chronic conditions, separate and move freely, improving oxygen delivery to tissue
Cellular oxygen: Improved circulation and cellular charge means more oxygen reaches the tissues, critical for recovery, energy and the body's ability to repair itself
ATP and energy: Studies show PEMF increases ATP production significantly, supporting faster recovery, reduced fatigue and improved cellular function
Injury and rehabilitation: PEMF was originally approved for bone healing and continues to be used by clinicians and athletes for injury recovery, inflammation management and rehabilitation support
Nervous system: Lower frequency PEMF sessions support parasympathetic activation, shifting the body out of stress mode and into rest and repair
What the research shows
The HUGO Pro difference
Not all PEMF devices are equal. Most consumer mats are low-intensity devices that replicate little more than what you'd get standing barefoot on grass.
The HUGO Pro operates at high intensity using nanosecond pulse technology and dual full-body mats, one above, one below, so the electromagnetic field passes through the entire body simultaneously rather than just the surface.
Sessions are short, around 12 minutes, because the intensity does the work quickly. You remain fully clothed and simply lie between the mats.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
PEMF suits a wide range of people, and most clients come to us for one of a few reasons:
Athletes and active people supporting recovery, circulation and muscle reset between training sessions
Busy professionals wanting a quick, effective reset without a long appointment
Anyone managing everyday tension or stress, using the pulsing sensation to help the nervous system settle
People recovering from exercise or overuse, drawn to the deep, full-body stimulation
People building a regular wellness routine, the way others might use a massage or sauna
Whatever brings you in, each session is guided, private, and adjusted to your comfort level on the day.
-
Yes. The HUGO Pro is a professional-grade high-intensity system, and every session is guided by our team. Before your first session, we'll go through a short health questionnaire to make sure PEMF is a safe fit for you, and intensity is always adjusted gradually to your comfort.
-
Most people feel a rhythmic pulsing or gentle muscle activation, along with warmth and deep relaxation. You remain fully clothed throughout and lie comfortably between two full-body mats, there's no need to undress.
-
Yes. If it's your first time, we'll walk you through the process and what to expect, and start the intensity at the absolute minimum, building it up slowly to a comfortable level.
-
You stay fully clothed for the entire session — PEMF works through clothing. We do ask that you remove jewellery, watches, cards with magnetic strips, and any electronic devices, and keep them away from the equipment, as the magnetic field can affect them.
-
Come as you are, no need to undress or apply anything beforehand. Drinking plenty of water before and after your session is helpful, since it supports your body's natural processes during and after the pulses.
-
A full-body session typically runs 3–12 minutes, with most clients doing the full 12-minute session.
-
Most people feel refreshed and relaxed. Some people notice mild, short-lived effects (such as light fatigue or increased thirst) as the body responds to the session, staying hydrated helps.
-
Many people feel the benefit after a single session. For an ongoing reset, a session once or twice a week is common; once you're feeling the shift, sessions can be spaced out to maintain it.
-
Everyone responds a little differently, and PEMF is not a medical treatment , it isn't intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. We're happy to share what other clients have experienced, but we focus on providing a safe, comfortable, well-run session rather than promising specific results.
-
Yes, before your first session, we'll ask about your health history and any relevant conditions, so we can make sure the session is set up safely for you.
-
For your safety, please let us know before booking if any of the following apply to you, as we may need clearance from your doctor or need to adjust your session:
Pregnancy or breastfeeding
Epilepsy or a history of seizures
An electrical implant (e.g. pacemaker, cochlear implant, insulin pump)
Elevated blood alcohol or drug levels
Organ transplant / immune suppression medication
A heart condition (heart failure, blockages, recent heart attack, arrhythmias) — may still be possible with cardiologist clearance and an adjusted session
Implanted metal, breast implants, active bleeding or a bleeding tendency, or Grave's disease
This isn't a complete list, so if you're ever unsure, just ask us before your visit.
-
Yes. PEMF has been researched in relation to recovery, circulation and cellular function. We're happy to point you toward some of this research if you'd like to learn more.
-
Yes, there's no specific restriction — just come comfortable and hydrated.

PEMF (via the HUGO Pro) focuses specifically on pulsed electromagnetic fields for recovery, circulation and nervous system support in a quick 12-minute session. HOCATT combines several technologies, including ozone steam, infrared heat and PEMF, into one longer, guided 20–30 minute session. Some clients enjoy both as part of a broader wellness routine.

EMF (electromagnetic field) is a broad term covering the whole spectrum, everything from sunlight and Wi-Fi to Bluetooth and mobile networks. Most everyday EMFs (like those from phones and routers) are engineered for connectivity and speed, not for a biological outcome, and people are exposed to them constantly, at random doses, for years on end.
PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) therapy is different: it's a specific, low-frequency signal that's been intentionally engineered for a therapeutic effect, delivered at a controlled intensity for a defined, short session. In other words, everyday EMFs are a by-product of communication technology, while PEMF is a deliberately designed wellness tool used in a measured, time-limited way under guidance.
-
The gap is enormous. PEMF devices (including the HUGO Pro) operate at very low frequencies, generally under 100 Hz. Mobile phones and Wi-Fi sit at the opposite end of the spectrum — phone signals run from just under 1 GHz up to around 20–30 GHz for newer 5G bands, and Wi-Fi typically sits between 2.4 and 5.8 GHz. Since 1 GHz is a billion Hz, that means everyday wireless devices operate at frequencies tens of millions of times higher than a PEMF session.
The two also differ in how they're delivered: a PEMF session is a short, defined dose at a low, controlled frequency, whereas phones and Wi-Fi are typically on for hours at a time, at a much higher frequency, without any therapeutic dosing behind them.
